AID FOR AIDS International (AFAI) is extremely proud to offer a comprehensive range of HIV services to people living in developing countries, as well as to link immigrants in the US to local HIV services. We would not be able to provide these services without the generous support and personal commitment of our individual, corporate and foundation donors. Because AFAI does not receive governmental funding, we rely heavily on private financial support to continue our lifesaving work.

Annual Giving (Fund for the Americas)

AID FOR AIDS is launching an annual giving program – Fund for THE AMERICAS to raise additional unrestricted operating resources and bring much needed attention to the Latin American and Caribbean region, an area often overlooked by other giving campaigns. These gifts will enable AID FOR AIDS to expand existing programs, implement innovative prevention campaigns, and successfully navigate the fight against stigma and discrimination.

How To Save A Child

Do you know that there are currently around 50,000 children living with HIV and AIDS in Latin America and the Caribbean, and this figure is growing steadily?

Each day 1,800 children worldwide become infected with HIV, and the vast majority of whom are newborns.

How can this be? How can so many children be living with HIV/AIDS and how are so many more continuing to be infected by this life threatening virus?

Vertical transmission of HIV from mother to child during birth and through breast feeding remains the main cause of high infection rates amoung very young children. Sadly, in many parts of the developing world, ignorance still exists about how HIV spreads. To make matters worse, men and women live in fear of the stigma and discrimination they would face upon testing positive for HIV. This results in many people going untested and being unaware of their HIV status when starting a family. It is not uncommon for new parents to learn of their own status upon the diagnosis of a sick child.

Every minute of every day a child under the age of 15 dies of AIDS related illness. By donating to HOW TO SAVE A CHILD you can help to reduce this number and give a child a future to look forward to! To read more, click here

Donate Unused HIV medications

One important way AID FOR AIDS International helps people living with HIV and AIDS is by recycling your unused antiretroviral and prophylaxis medication.

We accept unexpired HIV medication and general medical supplies from any patient, physician's office, pharmacy or other medical supplier. We then ship these medical supplies to more than 250 clients in thirty-two countries across four continents. But, there are still those in need! Donating your unused, unexpired medication can help us increase the numbers we serve.

Sponsor a Drop-Off Box

AFAI is looking for caring individuals, families or organizations who would like to sponsor the cost of installing new Drop-Off Boxes. A tax deductible donation of just $500 can cover the cost of installing a new box that is capable of collecting $350,000 in of medication a year. Read more

Collect Medications

If you work for any organization that provides any kind of services to people living with HIV and AIDS in the US, you can also collect unused antiretroviral medications from clients and make a great contribution to this program. 80% of the medications collected come from various AIDS organizations all over the United States with only 20% coming from individuals donating their own.

If you wish to learn more about how you or the organization you work with can become a medicine collector for AID FOR AIDS International please call: 212 337 8043. or you can email us at: samuel.jurado@aidforaids.org

Become an Advocate

Spreading the word about the Recycling Program is still one of the great challenges faced by AFAI each year. Millions of dollars worth of viable medication is wasted every year due to potential donors not being aware that this option is available to them. You can greatly assist us in our outreach by spreading the word to your family, friends and contact lists or by displaying our outreach postcards and flyers where they can be picked up the public.

We can easily supply you with appropriate material or a HTML email that you can simply forward on to friends and associates. If you have any questions please call: 212 337 8043. or you can email us at: samuel.jurado@aidforaids.org

Gifts-in-Kind

Please contact us to discuss donations of in-kind products or services. AFAI has a special interest in art pieces and goods that can be auctioned at any of our fundraising events or sold through our on-line store. New, shrink-wrapped and palletized items, transported by the donor, typically provide the best fundraising opportunities for AFA programs and services.

Matching Gifts and Employee Designated Giving

Matching gift programs are an excellent way to increase the value of your individual donation, at no cost to you! Employers will often match employee donations on a one-to-one (or more) basis. Check with your employer to see if your workplace has a matching gift program in place. If so, be sure to include any necessary forms when making a donation to AFAI, and we will contact your workplace to obtain the matching gift.

Employee designated giving is one of the easiest ways to contribute to AFAI This type of giving program allows employees to contribute to our organization directly through a payroll deduction. Employees pledge a specific, self-determined amount from each paycheck, which is then deducted out of each pay period and sent to AFAI on a regular basis. All donations through the employee giving program are tax deductible. To find out if your company participates in employee designated giving, please see your human resources department for further information.

If you have any questions please call: 212 337 8043. or you can email us at: samuel.jurado@aidforaids.org

Combined Federal Campaign

AID FOR AIDS International is a registered charity in the US governments Combined Federal Campaign. For more than four decades, the U.S. government has sponsored the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) - the world’s largest workplace fundraising drive for charity. In the last quarter of every calendar year, CFC invites civilian, military and postal employees to support eligible national and local charities. In 2005, some 1.4 million federal workers chose to pledge to those charities an amount totaling more than a quarter of a billion dollars.

The Campaign takes place every fall, usually from mid-September through early November. Employees receive a pledge card and "catalog" that lists all eligible charities. Employees decide which charities should receive their gifts. They do so by using a 5-digit code number. They can only choose charities that have been accepted into the Campaign. Write-ins are not allowed. No other charity benefits from an employee's gift. Employees may give once or request that a specific amount be withheld from their paychecks throughout the following year. An overwhelming majority of federal employees elect the ongoing payroll deduction program. The CFC’s combination of donor control and payroll deduction leads to high levels of enthusiastic support. Almost 40 percent of the federal workforce participates in the CFC each year, with the average pledge exceeding $245.

If you are federal worker please consider AFAI as one of your chosen charities for the oncoming year. AID FOR AIDS Internationals CFC# is 11510
