More than a just a collection of gifts, annual giving is a catalyst for turning individual generosity into a collective energy. It represents the dynamic interaction of people working together to achieve great things in the fight against HIV and AIDS in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Fund for THE AMERICAS An opportunity to save lives

Since 1997, gifts from concerned, caring people have allowed AID FOR AIDS International (AFAI) to cultivate the largest HIV medication recycling program in the world, and offer comprehensive programs to empower people living with HIV and AIDS in developing countries.

AFAI is launching an annual giving program to raise additional unrestricted operating resources and bring much needed attention to the Latin American and Caribbean region, an area often overlooked by other giving campaigns. These gifts will enable AFAI to expand existing programs, implement innovative prevention campaigns, and successfully navigate the fight against stigma and discrimination.

Here are just a few examples of how your generous contribution can greatly assist our services:

• A Gift of $1000 can pay for the shipment of medication and the processing of lab work for one year for one client enrolled in our Access Treatment Program; or can provide a month of psychotherapy for 70 children living with HIV and AIDS at our facility in the Children’s Hospital in Panama City.
• A Gift of $2,500 can provide prevention education for at least 250 teenagers living in the LAC region; or can purchase a year’s worth of pediatric antiretroviral medication for 10 children living with HIV and AIDS in this region.
• A Gift of $5,000 can ship medication from Panama to six countries in Central America, providing the annual treatment regimen for 1,000 people living with HIV and AIDS; or can cover the cost of Genotype testing for at least 10 clients, individuals who have shown resistance to past treatments.
• A Gift of $10,000 can bring training courses in HIV and AIDS management to at least 50 rural physicians located in the LAC region; or can maintain a local primary prevention site capable of reaching at least 9,000 new teenagers annually.
• A Gift of $25,000 can pay for the annual cost of shipping $6 million worth of HIV medication from the United States to 27 different countries; or can identify, educate, and train 15 new leaders, equipping them with the abilities to conduct social surveillance and advocacy work for people living with HIV and AIDS in the LAC region
• A Gift of $30,000 can finance a multi-media event on World AIDS Day, highlighting AIDS prevention methods and healthy life-skills for 5,000 teenagers in the Latin American/Caribbean region; or can invest in a CD4 count testing machine that provides continuous hematology management for people living with HIV and AIDS.
