LoveLife: The Search for Young Social Entrepreneurs
LoveLife is a global campaign dedicated to finding new ways to think about social entrepreneurship. It is a campaign about passion,
life, and creativity. The campaign urges young people to develop social consciousness, personally and in their communities, and
to use their individual talents to enact social change by supporting people living with HIV and AIDS in developing countries.
Who Are We: AID FOR AIDS International (AFAI) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization committed to empowering people living with
HIV and AIDS in the developing world through access to treatment, knowledge and social reform. To date, AFAI has:
• Redistributed over $50 million dollars of HIV medication to developing countries;
• Monitored more than 5,000 individuals living with HIV and AIDS in 32 countries;
• Connected more than 3,100 immigrants to social services in New York;
• Reached more than 1,200,000 teenagers per year in 8 countries with HIV prevention education; and
• Conducted social surveillance in 18 countries that received support from The Global Fund in Latin America and the Caribbean.
What Are We Searching For: A new generation of socially conscious individuals, whose passion, creativity, and way of thinking can
make great strides in the fight against HIV and AIDS across the globe. We want to find the next generation of social entrepreneurs
and use their passion and creativity to change the way that fundraising works.
How Are We Going To Find It: We’ve created the LoveLife search as a competition to find the most promising young social entrepreneurs. If you are between 18 and 35 years, get involved:
• Competitors are asked to write a project proposal in respond to this question, “How can you use their creativity and passion to promote and raise awareness to support people living with HIV or AIDS in developing countries?”
• The project proposal must outline the competitor’s idea and how he/she will implement this idea to promote and raise awareness to support HIV-infected communities in developing countries.
• Successful proposals will be defined by three things: Creativity, Awareness, and Self-Sustainability.
• All proposals must be submitted no later than April 15, 2010.
• A winner will be selected by the AFAI team and announced before May 1, 2010.
The winner will have the opportunity to enact change on a global scale!:
The winner of the campaign will be awarded with an internship in the summer of 2010 in which AFAI is investing a seed budget of $20,000 to implement the idea that was proposed in his/her project proposal. This paid internship includes seminars, educational workshops, and even a trip to one of AFAI’s office in Latin America, to provide the winner with the knowledge and the tools necessary to create a successful project. The winner will develop marketing, grant-writing, and public-speaking skills while learning about the impact and significance of the works of non-profit organization.
LoveLife is looking for the next generation of social entrepreneurs.
We are looking for you.
How can what you love in life, give life to someone else?
Fight against indifference. Use love to fight HIV and AIDS. Love life.
LoveLife.

Proposal Guidelines
Participants are asked to address the question, “How can you use their creativity and passion to promote and raise awareness to support people living with HIV or AIDS in developing countries?” In a project proposal, participants must outline what their idea is and how they will implement this idea to promote and raise awareness to support HIV-infected communities in developing countries. The proposal will be judged on the following three criteria. While it is not necessary to address these questions, keep in mind that these are the questions that the LoveLife judges will be asking while evaluating your project proposal.
All project proposals should follow the template that has been provided for the participants.
• Goals. What is the general, long term change that you are hoping to make with your project, such as increased awareness of prevalence and effect of HIV/AIDS, less stigma and discrimination for people living with HIV/AIDS, etc?
• Objectives. This should be a measurable outcome that will be produced by your plan of action. It should be specific, challenging and realistic so that it can be achieved within the time frame of your project.
• Program methods, design and plan of action. Identify the aspect of HIV/AIDS your idea will be addressing and how your project will solve the problem or issue that you stated. Who is your target audience (i.e. high school students, the LGBT community, etc)? What are some activities that you plan on implementing to promote awareness about your specific issue? How will you measure the success of these events? Be sure to provide a timeline that outline your plan of action.
• Staffing. Will you need volunteer or other individuals to carry out your plan of action? If so, specify how many volunteers you will need and the required qualifications of these volunteers. If you only need volunteers at specific time of your project, please specify the time period.
• Budget. Based on the plan of action you have outlined, provide an estimate for your project.
• Evaluation. Your proposal should include an evaluation of your plan of action that address the risks that are associated with your project and the actions you will take to minimize these risks.
• Sustainability. After the funding has ended, how will your project still be sustainable?

This sounds really exciting! How do I get started?
Start brainstorming! How can you use their creativity and passion to promote and raise awareness to support people living with HIV or AIDS in developing countries?
Find an innovative idea to promote and raise awareness to support people living with HIV or AIDS in developing countries. Submit your idea by writing a project proposal. Your proposal will be evaluated by three criteria:
• 1 Creativity – How original was your idea?
• 2 Awareness – How many people did you impact with your idea?
• 3 Sustainability – How will you encourage donations?
These ideas can address any aspects of HIV and AIDS such as, but not limited to: prevention and protection from HIV/AIDS, social stigma, the effect HIV/AIDS have on individuals, families, communities and the world, restricted access to medication, or one of the many factors that contribute to the pandemic like poverty, homelessness or drug use.
