NYIAL collaborates with Latin American consulates to provide recent immigrants with services
As part of its mandate, the NYIAL program at AFA continues to collaborate with foreign consulates in New York City. During June and July, this initiative expanded and the program secured a Health Day, Dia de la Salud, at several consulates in the City.
Currently, the program collaborates with several agencies to provide individuals visiting the consulates with health information regarding diabetes, blood-pressure screening, and HIV prevention and testing. At present, the program operates at the consulates of Columbia, Ecuador, and Mexico, but soon will be expanded to include the consulates of El Salvador and Peru.
