AFA and NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson celebrate 3rd Annual Medicine Recycling Drive!
We are thrilled to have celebrated our 3rd annual Medicine Recycling Drive in partnership with NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson and his team. At the symbolic NYC AIDS Memorial Park, right across where the iconic St. Vincent’s Hospital used to be, our team and members from the Council Speaker’s office were joined by dozens of committed New Yorkers who carved time our in their schedules to drop off unexpired medications for people without access to treatment around the world.
For the third year in a row, AID FOR AIDS and the City Council Speaker have joined forces to raise awareness on the importance of Access to Treatment and the potential of unexpired medication to save lives through our Access To Treatment Program. Over the course of 2 hours, we managed to collect over 4 sizable bags of unexpired medication ranging from pain relievers to insulin, cardiac medication and ARVs.
As we approach 2022, we hope to continue planning similar activities in the upcoming year to raise awareness on medicine recycling and simplify the medicine donation process for our neighbors in the city.
