Iván Duque Márquez, President of Colombia, to be honored at this year’s My Hero Gala
This year’s edition of the My Hero Gala will honor Iván Duque Márquez, President of Colombia, in recognition of his administration’s efforts in responding to the Venezuelan Refugee Crisis in the country.
President Duque was the first national leader to approve a Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelans, thus providing a legal solution for 1.7 million migrants and refugees in Colombia.
The My Hero Award honors the individuals who have shown the courage and commitment to change people’s lives and make a difference in the world. Past My Hero Award recipients include influential figures such as: Dr. Anthony Fauci, Chief Medical Advisor to the President of the United States; Dr. Robert Redfield, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2018 – 2021); Former First Lady of Colombia Lina Moreno de Uribe and former First Lady of Panamá Vivian Fernández de Torrijo.
